Metropolitan Shuttle awards scholarships to students born in the state of Maine. We award $1,000 to one student per participating institution each year. We offer these awards to students born in the great state of Maine because our company founder was born and raised there and he wants to give back to the state and lend a helping hand to his fellow Mainers trying to get their way through costly and rigorous academic institutions.
Background to Metropolitan Shuttle’s Scholarship Program
The world is becoming an increasingly complex place for young people to navigate and have a positive impact. Information travels faster than ever and is disseminated in wider swaths than most of us can even imagine. Anybody with a smartphone can produce content that can travel the world in seconds and influence a mass audience for the good or, unfortunately, for the bad at virtually no cost. This information revolution has had, and will continue to have in ways we still cannot foresee, a transformative effect on education, politics, foreign policy, science, climate; in short, our entire lives. This is no longer our grandfathers’ world. It’s the 21st century. How can you shape this century? What positive impact can you have?
- The recipient has to have been born in the state of Maine
- Currently enrolled or matriculated in a participating college or university
- The deadline for the 2018-2019 academic year is June 1, 2019.
