Are animals permitted on board?

With the exception of ADA-certified assistance animals, Metropolitan Shuttle strictly prohibits animals in all of its vehicles. According to ADA regulations (28 C.F.R. § 36.104), a service animal is any animal that has been specially trained to help a person with a disability. These duties could involve directing passengers who are blind or deaf, warning those who are hard of hearing, providing protective services, helping people move around (such pushing wheelchairs), or picking up fallen items.

Service animal owners are solely in charge of their animals and are required to keep them under control using a leash, carrier, or other appropriate restriction. Owners are also liable for any damage or cleaning that their service animal may cause while on board. Service animals are not allowed in the baggage rooms underneath the bus, nor are they allowed to occupy passenger seats or block aisles. Any animal that is thought to pose a risk to the health or safety of customers or employees may not be transported by Metropolitan Shuttle.
